Rob began his aviation career in the Royal Navy as a fighter pilot in the Fleet Air Arm. He flew the Sea Harrier for the majority of his 20+ year military career and during this time he became an instructor, examiner and test pilot. Sadly, the Sea Harrier was withdrawn from service thus a change of career saw Rob join Virgin Atlantic Airways where he flew long haul in the behemoth Airbus A340 for a second career of over 20 years. During this time Rob has flown many different types of aircraft including, gliders, hang gliders, light aircraft and even bodyflight in skydiving wingsuits! Rob started flying hot air balloons over 15 years ago and has now amassed over 25000 hours of total flight time. You are certainly in very safe hands.
The Royal Navy Balloon was built in Bristol by Cameron Balloons in 2006 and has flown in a variety of high profile events, balloon meets including The International Bristol Balloon Fiesta, The Exclusive Cup at Longleat and has supported many Royal Naval functions, air days, families days and exhibitions at the National Arboretum. Rob just loves flying and has kept and maintained the Fly Navy Balloon to be able to fly friends and family.
